Yael Sonia's elegant and inventive fine jewelry has its roots in her childhood, which was spent between New York, Paris and Sao Paulo. When Yael turned sixteen, her mother, a Sao Paolo art gallerist, asked a local goldsmith to create a custom ring based on one of her daughter’s drawings. Yael was instantly captivated and has been exploring the possibilities of form and material ever since.
Her collections are informed by a range of inspirations, from children’s kinetic toys to the Art Deco era to Brazil’s famous natural gemstones. Her personal, often playful designs combine the organic with the structured to achieve a sophisticated, modern look.
Yael graduated from Barnard College with a degree in French Literature and Translation and from Parsons School of Design with a graduate degree in metalsmithing. Her designs have gained her public acclaim and several international awards including the prestigious Tahitian Pearl Trophy Award for her Spinning Wheel Necklace.
All of Yael Sonia’s jewelry is handmade in her atelier in Sao Paulo and is available in Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Hong Kong and New York City.
